Last year due to bad weather we had to cancel this so hopefully the elements will be kind to us this year and we will all enjoy getting together to celebrate the festive season.
Rainbows Programme
6 September, 2011Rainbows is a programme for children who have lost a significant person in their lives through death, divorce or separation. It takes place in St. Michaels on 12 Tuesdays at 6.30 beginning in early January. Children are arranged in small groups with two trained facilitators. It is not counselling but a programme for children who are coping with changed circumstances in their lives.
Enrolment for children from Junior Infants upwards is ongoing at present and names need to be with us by late November to facilitate formation of groups.

Are you a parent or carer of a young baby, toddler or pre-schooler? These six sessions offer support, help and advice on dealing with the issues that arise in the early years of childhood and will help you become a confident parent right from the start.. JOURNEY THROUGH GRIEF
Bereavement is a very stressful event which if not dealt with appropriately can lead to chronic stress and illness. Following the death of a significant person in our lives, it is important to have the opportunity to express our feelings in a supportive, understanding environment if we are to fully accept the reality of the loss. This course offers an opportunity to enable you to cope in a healthy way. A minimum of 3-6 months after the death is preferable and no more than 2 family members per group. Enrolment in advance is essential. 6 Thursdays nights at 8pm beginning 23rd Feb.Cost: A voluntary contribution.
THE ART OF MINDFULNESS Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention on purpose and non-judgementally, to what goes on in the present moment, to increase awareness, engagement and balance. It can increase a sense of personal confidence and renew powerful inner resources for healing.

BULLYING BEHAVIOUR:
Bullying Behaviour can have devastating effects on individuals, organisation, and the wider community and can be difficult to define and can go unrecognised. This course will define bullying behaviour and help participants understand the detrimental effects such behaviour can have on both those being bullied and on the bully himself. BEGINNING EXPERIENCE The Beginning Experience is a specially designed programme which helps separated and widowed people make a new beginning in life. A professional counselling service is available at the centre. The service provides help for families, couples and individuals seeking to improve the quality of their lives, to enhance their relationships or to deal with specific problems. Counsellors are available by appointment and as far as possible at times convenient to those who need them and are fully accreditated by IACP. Donation based.
SPIRITUAL ACCOMPANIMENT/DIRECTION

SENIOR CITZENS GROUP Our senior citizen group meets at the Centre twice monthly. There will be a cup of tea and a chat, bingo and other activities the group may decide New members are very welcome but please note this is not an ‘active retired group’.

ANGER MANAGEMENT:
Anger is an emotion not a behaviour. It is a normal human emotion, .recognised by all of us. Anger is important information about a situation. MEN: DIFFERENT STRESSES—DIFFERENT TOOLS
MEN! Do you suffer with stress? Do you find it a real challenge? Want to put some extra tools in your stress management toolbox? These six sessions are designed specifically to address the particular stresses of each participant, looking at what tools he already has and how he can use them well in different types of stress. Sometimes we all just want a break, not to talk, just to relax for a while. During this course participants are invited to slow down and enter a space of quiet. MY WAY OF GRIEVING
We all grieve differently. Sometimes well-meaning people put pressure on us to grieve their way. This group encourages bereaved people to come together to share, learn and value the many ways of grieving and living with grief. This group is facilitated by a relationship psychotherapist.

INTRODUCTION TO ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
This technique is a gentle and well established method for releasing excess muscle tension. In learning to move and breathe more easily you can improve your posture and reduce stress. INFORMATION ON MEDIATION SOLUTIONS
Mediation is a fast, cost-effective and satisfying way of resolving disputes. Given the high cost of litigation and the length of time involved in bringing matters to court, more and more people are turning to alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as mediation. This is a programme that has been developed to help us take a look at the most important need of our time: how to live in a way that is environmentally sustaining, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just in a world threatened by the devastating effects of climate change. The programme presented by a team using the spoken word and video clips will help to answer the questions:
What is the state of our planet?
How did we get here?
What is possible for the future?
Where do we go from here?

RELAXING YOUR BODY; NOURISHING YOUR SOUL Susann von Mohlman
It is by slowing down our busy pace, entering stillness and a mindful presence to what is happening in the moment, that we can also connect and deepen our relationship with the ‘small voice within’- our soul. This day event is an invitation to enter stillness and listen. Participants are invited to reflect and share their experiences as to how soul is present, or not, in their lives and how soul can be nourished in our day to day living. Please wear comfortable clothes, bring along a journal/pen, something that connects you with soul and a mat and cushions to work on the floor. Numbers limited

FORGIVENESS: BODY, MIND AND SOUL..

This seminar run over 2 days will explore the role of forgiveness in keeping us healthy, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Anger and hurt can contribute to emotional distress and depression as well as physical illnesses. Most religions and spiritual traditions stress the importance of forgiveness so participants will be introduced to a forgiveness meditation/prayer practice for the forgiveness of ourselves and others which can then be practiced at home.

FLOWER ARRANGING FOR CHRISTMAS Glenda Devlin

This day will show you how to prepare beautiful flower arrangements to decorate your home this Christmas or to give as a gift. Each participant will leave with at least three arrangements. A list of readily available and economical flowers and equipment will be sent to participants in advance

PROFESSIONAL COUNSELLING
A professional counseling service is available at the centre. The service provides help for families, couples and individuals seeking to improve the quality of their lives, to enhance their relationships or to deal with specific problems. Counselors are available by appointment and as far as possible at times convenient to those who need them.
Cost: A voluntary contribution.
SPIRITUAL ACCOMPANIMENT/DIRECTION
Trained spiritual directors are available to accompany people on their life journeys. This one to one confidential service invites individuals to explore the meaning of their lives in a faith context. It seeks to help participants meet God in the ordinary and everyday experiences of life. List of directors is available at the centre.

SENIOR CITZENS GROUP
Our senior citizen group meets at the Centre twice monthly. There will be a cup of tea and a chat, bingo and other activities the group may decide New members are very welcome but please note this is not an ‘active retired group’.
First and Third Wednesday of every month at 3p.m.

A GIFT WHEN YOU NEED IT
Friends of the centre who are qualified in reflexology, aromatherapy and facials have volunteered some sessions every week in response to needs. If you know somebody who is going through a stressful time and is not in a position to pay for these services ring Moira or Deirdre at 071-9170329 to make an appointment.
ORGANIC GARDEN
The centre is currently involved in the Community Food Project in conjunction with the HSE—West and the Organic Centre, Rossinver. New participants are welcome in February 2012.
LIBRARY
Books on family relationships, parenting, personal development, bereavement, spirituality and other areas of interest can be borrowed for a period of two weeks. You are welcome to have a look at what is available from 10a.m.-1pm and from 2-4pm. We welcome suggestions as to suitable books we might include on our shelves.

ENROLMENT FOR COURSES Monday 5th /Tuesday 6th September, 10am—7pm. Available places can continue to be booked until commencement of courses. Register in person, by phone or email. We regret that we cannot take bookings before 5th September due high demand for many of our courses. Day and Evening courses must be paid for at enrolment. Deposits for Saturday courses are non refundable and are due no later than 2 weeks after enrolment. We keep our costs as low as possible to facility access by all.
